You're Costa Rica!
You're about as peaceful as anyone on the planet, a real dyed-in-the-wool
pacifist. And why not? No one really poses much of a threat to you and
everything seems to work out, no matter how much violence and insanity rages all around
you. So you relax and appreciate nature and culture while the rest of the world
carries on their petty disagreements. If only everyone could follow your
example...

i am making this pattern for meghann's baby: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTblu.html
of course I am sub-ing yarn so they don't quite look like jeans....
but i am supposed to drop a stitch then pick up the ladders one at a time then 2 at a time... HUH??? I don't know what that means. do you?
Oh yeah - that's how you make the raspberry hat. Let me look at the patter online and I'll be right back.
Never mind, it's not the same thing but similar.
This is what you do:
(You know what the "ladder" is, right? It's like if you have a run in your hose; They want you to drop the stitch and then let it run *all the way to the bottom*. Then you start reconstructing from the bottom edge up.)
To pick up 1 ladder at a time:
put crochet hook through live stitch knitwise, hook it around the next "rung" on the ladder of dropped stitches, pull through live loop.
To pick up 2 ladders at a time:
put crochet hook through live stitch knitwise, hook it around next TWO "rungs" on the ladder of dropped stitches, pull through live loop.
Alternate between these two steps til you are at the top. The gauge should be loose enough that you'll basically get a column of elongated stitches alternating with normal ones, and a very slightly puckery effect on either side of the column.
Cute pants!
